Mokai will try to void a warranty for using my products, even though the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act of 1975 says they are not allowed to. I think being such a small company, and not in any kind of spotlight in the media, gives them some sense of of freedom to do as they please or think the rules don't apply to them?
Unless I misunderstood, Hersh was talking about availability of parts and not a warranty issue, which are different things. On the topic of warranty issues, I think it's an issue more of liability for Mokai. As a larger company, they are subject to greater scrutiny before they can release a product to the public. If they were to endorse your product, they could leave themselves wide open to lawsuits.
I think we have probably taken this a bit too far in America, but people start suing other people at the drop of a hat these days. Have you purchased a gas container lately? OMG, you practically need an engineering degree to figure out how to pour the gas. I end up spilling more gas trying to, push and turn, and making sure my O-ring is on the correct side of the pour spout, etc. I'm sure the safety features were a result of a lawsuit somewhere down the line, although EPA regulations are part of it too. I bet we could get into a whole political discussion about government regulations, but let's not:)
Personally, I like things just the way they are:) If Mokai was to sell and distribute the improvements you sell, they would be considerably more expensive, as they would have to do a lot more research and development before they could release them, and consequently it would also take longer to reach the market, etc.
If I was in Mokai's shoes, I would be trying to put you on the payroll, but that's me.
Best,
Troy
