Went to the part of the river that the rowing crews occupy and had a problem........I couldn’t get a good picture of the coach blocking my way, and control the boat safely. We nearly collided! I held my temper due to the kids nearby, and didn’t say a word. There were about 20 crews out, and I was alone. I would go to the opposite side of the river to pass, at idle speed, and he would fly over to block me!
I’m going to see if I can file a complaint with Fish & Game. If I went to the boathouse, it would turn out bad.

Fortunately that was at the start, and I had a great time otherwise! Turned into a five hour trip.
I went from Flat Rock Dam , through Conshohocken , and up to the Black Rock Dam in Norristown. Other than the crews, I was the ONLY BOAT on the river due to fog & clouds. Absolutely no wind, and perfect water level.

That wall was there before the trees!

BTW, I would invite Happul3, but parking is extremely limited, and by permit only ( I don’t have one, and sometimes get a $50 ticket. ), but not today.

Was it Schuylkill river? Anyhoo, good to hear it all worked out and you had a good time after all. Hopefully we'll have a joint Mokai outing this year (i am getting my second shot in a week, so I'll be more mobile then).

Yup, just north of Manayunk, on the Schuylkill River.

Was that the VFW ramp ? I think that is the only one down there. Access is really is really tough down there.

The VFW has there own ramp, the municipal ramp is just downstream from it.

Took a trip up to Allentown today, about an hour away, to try a spot on the Lehigh River. Interesting ramp, you have to go under a RR bridge to get to the river. Lots of RR bridges!
The current was pretty strong, so I headed upstream only. Went through a couple class 1 rapids about two miles up, then another mile up I hit a class 2. I made it halfway through, but with the water still being cold, I decided it wasn’t worth it and turned around.
I may try again in the summer, but the water level was already low.

I can’t even imagine haw hard it was to build this stone wall! It was at least 1,000 feet long, and old.
The Lehigh is a lot like the Susquehanna River, more shallow than deep, with more current. That’s why it’s popular for rafting.

Today I went to the Yardley boat ramp on the Delaware River, a few miles south of New Hope Pa. I had an absolute blast! Only jet boats on this part of the river. I was on the water for 6 hours!
There were several ( fish wiers ? ) Kind of like one foot high dams, and fast current, but I got through all but the one at New Hope, way too dangerous.
Did a little mud larking, and even found an old marble drawer knob ( no pic yet ), but nothing else.
On the way back I went through a little trough, and unfortunately it had a three foot drop at the end! Nearly swamped the boat! After that the wind started gusting, so I headed back.

The parking lot is pretty small, but we were packed in like sardines. Plenty of calm water too, so I would definitely recommend it.

The picture doesn’t do it justice, but it was bad.

Nice! Glad you had a good time, that's quite a trip at 6 hours!! Can't say I've ever spend that much time in one of mine in one shot, maybe back when I fished from them. I can see the chop in the last picture, that's rough in a Mokai!!

This is why I kept my Mokai, going into places like this would be impossible with a larger jet boat. The bottom of the tunnel was lined with wood planks, interesting because it’s not an old bridge. Only six inches of water.
I forgot to mention I had to pull the boat up and over a small dam, not fun, but that’s as far as I have ever been able to go before. Not far, but fairly steep. So glad I did, as that was at the beginning of the day.

That is soooo cool! My kind of fun right there, really curious as to the history of that tunnel and it's "flooring".  \./8

This forum is so cool! One of the members reached out to me( 2mokiaman ), and suggested we get together for some river trips. He knows the Susquehanna, and I know the Schuylkill, so I think it will work out great.

Tim will show you a good time too, he knows some great places. I thoroughly enjoyed my river trip with him and hope to get out with him again for more fun. Here is the video from our trip.

Wow, now I remember! You guys were  putting in when I was leaving after kayaking all day. By the time I got it on my car you guys were already gone. It’s a small world isn’t it.
I was familiar with them from Beau’s channel, but never saw one in person.
