Wanted to make a video showing an easy way to remove the plastic wear ring. So I beat an old wear ring in, I had forgotten how much of a pain it was to get one of those things in the old hull, one of the reasons I came up with my aluminum version. The old hulls wear ring housing is smaller than the current models, the wear rings from the factory are made to fit the new hull, but are sold as replacement for the old hull as well. Anyone with the old hull that's changed their wear ring knows what I'm talking about. Anyhow, hope this video helps make the removal part easier.
If you're tired of changing plastic rings all the time, go aluminum.

Tom, I really appreciate this video.  Seems so simple & I'm kicking myself for not figuring it out on my own, having fought the replacement process numerous times in the old Mokai & new.  The little tool from the factory is totally worthless, so would carefully do similar as shown on your video only with out heat using a sharp chisel, but couldn't help leaving some slight gouges that then would have to be sanded smooth.  Now having already purchased your aluminum ring, but with winter here in Wyoming since, I haven't put it in, so now that job will be a breeze.
