Title: Flying again
Post by: Painlesstom on July 02, 2019, 08:54:46 AM
Time and weather finally cooperated at the same place, and let me get an evening flight in. Great way to wrap up a 4 day weekend!  >:D

Powered parachutes are not very popular in Pa, way more regulations than powered paramotors . I still have mine in storage, just canít let go of the dream yet. Never been in the air with it.

Regulations are federal, not according to state. The FAA is what governs all aircraft. I'm flying a single seat under part 103 for ultralights, no license required. If you want to fly a two seater and carry a passenger, then you have to have at least a sport license with the PPC endorsement. What do you have?

Of course, you are correct.

So what's the dusty bird in your storage?

I have a four stroke SkyCruiser quad paramotor. The last time I was practicing kiting the wing, the ground was very wet from dew, and the wing dragged behind me and pulled the cage into the prop ( I didnít shut the motor off in time ).
Destroyed the prop, part of the cage, and a prop splinter went through one tire, but I was safe.

If you ever want to look it up: SkyCruiser.com ( Lowboy Quad )

I need to order the parts to fix it up and sell it. Perfect condition otherwise.

Iíll email some pics to you.

Sounds like the cage was pretty flexible for that to happen. I guess that's the difference between a PPG conversion frame and an actual PPC. But dew shouldn't have had any affect on kiting if the wing was laid out right and enough power applied. Dragging the wing is typically what happens when someone eases into the power without any commitment being made. Just got to go for it. lol

No idea why you can't see it, don't know what you are viewing the site with. Works fine on Chrome, Explorer, and on my smart phone.  Even if you can't figure it out, you can grab the link in the text and paste to your browser. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGHslu78woI

Buddy with skills did a great job filming my flight with his DJI Mavic Pro (drone). Think this is my favorite PPC flight video!  >:D

Thanks, we will definitely be revisiting this song and dance. The only plan was I fly and he tried to follow, I saw him a few times and just tried to do things in such a way he would hopefully be able to keep me in frame. Next time we will plan things with more detail and make it even better. Glad you enjoyed it!!  :)

Love your PPC! My PPG is still in storage, waiting for parts so I can sell it. 😥😥😥 The Mokai is the replacement for it, much to my familyís joy.

Thanks Craig! Too bad you are selling your PPG, but the Mokai is a good replacement.

Here is a sunset flight from yesterday, 80 degrees and no wind forced me to take to the skies for some fun. 50 minute flight was incredible! Enjoy.  :)
