Had an hour and a half to come up with a rack system to tote my Mokais to Maine to fish with my brother.  Several pieces of pressure treated 2x4, a screwgun, chopsaw and screws and we were good to go !  It actually worked so well I am thinking of having a friend weld me a similar rack out of aluminum or steel, only I would include a lifting device for the top bunk to aid in raising it up.  My wife asked me if it was going to hold up for 4 hours at 70 mph.  I told her that we were going to find out !  We did and all was well.

Yes Tom I did make it and it cost 30 bucks in materials from Lowe's. It works really good for trolling and holding bait tube and extra rods for the kind of fishing I do

How far away are you Tom from East TN? Here's a pic of boat and couple of latest victims of the Rapala!!! Catch and release! Live to fight another day! ;)

Nice catch... the boat AND the fish!! Congrats on both. I'm a hop, skip, and a jump from TN. 5 1/2 hours from Chattanooga, 4 hours from Atlanta. I'm 45 minutes south of Savannah. Zip here is 31316 if you want to look it up. Would love to upgrade your boat to the Subie, hope to see you when it's cold.  :)

Well finally can post pictures yeehaa, my mokai sporting spray shield, rod holders ,wind screen anchor rope an reel while able to be moved effortlessly on c-tug trolley.
Also pictured a kahawai of 11.2lb common over here easy to catch underated as a game fish tho this played as if it were a kingfish took 20 mins to boat.
Gave me 8.4lb of fillets frame and belly pectoral fins to smoke.
Kept me eating for a week, was yummy.

Interesting spray shield on the front of the boat, what type of material is it made of?  How does the wind affect deflection backwards at full throttle?   Good looking fish also.

Looks great Karl, especially the fish! Nice catch there. I, too, noticed the spray shield across the bow. It appears to two pieces of lexan, why two layers? Also curious if it acts like a scoop and digs in to the water when not on plane, looks like it could throw lots of water right at you in the right conditions.

The spray shield is made of 1.5 millimeter pvc sheeting bought from local hardware store off a roll.
To help with rigidity i extended 100 mil behind screws holes for handles, the holes in sheeting i drilled out to 8 mil to allow for any misadventure which did happen drove straight into wall of ramp when kill switch failed just left little crease in shield.
Length of spray shield over all is 450mm could extend by 50mm  but ran out,the reason for two  shields was first one was not long enough i put on just to use as support strength however not needed as following the curved fore deck provided natural  strength enough to catch spray an not fold back on itself when mokai pushing into chop or swells and waves, the pressure from bow wave helps hold its form even driving into big waves yet still being supple enough to bend and not break should you crash or wish to fold down for whatever reason will bounce back to original form.
When used with windscreen cockpit 99 percent dry gotta allow for some wind born spray, hehe.
Cost me 17 dollar for enough to make 2 shields and the little prototype tester, gave one to my friend for his mokai.

The green mokai's are 2003 bone stock models. The yellow Mokai is 2008 with windshield, exhaust, and air intake.  The 03's have been mainly used on the Yukon river and artic ocean for hunting and getting to my property.

Thank you guys.. Yeah trailers are not the best when you have to go 200 miles down a dirt road that isn't maintained and only 1 1/2 lanes wide.   I hoping in the next month I get some time to go up 20 mile and placer rivers, and out of Whittier to get more ice and glacier pictures. But moose hunting comes first. Trying to convince my wife to let me get new engines for at least 2 of the Mokai's. Along with a bunch of toms other fun add-ons.

Alaska is so beautiful in the spring/summer season. :)  The winters, I didn't like >:(.   Great pictures.   Was always afraid of the snow snakes. :))

Where are you in relation to Fairbanks or Anchorage.

I spend my winters down river from Eagle AK east of Fairbanks on Yukon river just as it enters Alaska. Summers I spend most of my time in or around Soldotna south of Anchorage and a month or 2 in and around artic villages.

What kind of conection do you have for that choke? Or is that not an eskape?
Title: Re: Member Mokai's - Show us what you got!
Post by: Painlesstom on April 05, 2016, 01:27:05 AM
That boat is a 2011, and those had a choke cable. Mokai got lazy with that on the ES-kape.... Not a bid deal really though, especially with stock boats that have the governor in place. The throttle is wide open during cranking so it's not hard to start cold.

We just got our 2012 Mokai on Friday.  I think that's right or does Mokai need two I on the end to make it plural? But after a couple of days of going over then and changing the oil I took one out today with my son for a quick spin.

Post by: Painlesstom on November 07, 2016, 09:20:41 PM
Wow, congrats on that find! Two of the best models ever made. I honestly couldn't tell you what the correct pluralization would be, I have personally just kept it the same for singular or plural usage. If used in a possessive manner, I would add an "'s". *Your Mokai's wear ring should be replaced.

Let me know if there is anything I can help with. Welcome, and Enjoy!  \./8

Thanks Tom they don't look to bad the older guy we got them from hardly used them they have really low hours. But that is one of the two things I was planning on doing this winter for peace of mind next summer. That and install an hour meter in each of them. My OCD gets the best of me sometimes. That muffler setup you build how much does it quiet them down? My wife was already complaining about how loud they are.
Title: Re: Member Mokai's - Show us what you got!
Post by: Painlesstom on November 08, 2016, 07:58:44 AM
My muffler is MUCH quieter, the ear cracking pop of the factory muffler is no longer there. It's a comfortable drone like a riding mower, you can ride in it all day and never think about the noise. Night and day difference, plus the added benefit of better cooling ventilation helps a lot too. Muffler is $165, and my fiberglass muffler cover is $135.

Hi folks:

I discovered by accident that after using my video camera for a while condensation forms on the lens because my finger is really close to that area. I took this photograph on a sunny day by the boat ramp, but it looks like it was shot in early morning fog. I thought the effect was pretty cool. This is the Mokai ES-Kape 2.0 at Harding Lake in Salcha, Alaska. About 50 miles south of Fairbanks.

My T-bar steering & throttle control conversion..
Steering cable came from Tom (thanks mate), controls I made.. my other 2 es-kape Iíll be doing a completely different steering system that will do away with this type of push/pull cable...
