I found this writeup when I was exploring fuel inlets for our carburetors.  Yesterday I found a fuel inlet nipple on a small walbro carb that looked like it would fit the EX21 carb. When i tried it i found that the Mikuni carb for EX21 was actually made to accept this diameter fitting as a press fit.  I put a little Permatex #2 on the nipple and pressed it in.  Perfect.  Solved the old problem of fuel line coming from off the cylinder while saving time, weight and frustration of opening holes to fit and massaging the motor cowl to fit.

Here are a couple pics to show.  on left is EX21 carb and on right KX 21.  Screws are in carb on left to show what was there.  Briggs makes a right angle press in fitting that should be perfect. I ordered one to try and will let you know.  The carb from yesterday is on a friend's boat and works perfect.

Best detail breakdown on a carburetor I have ever seen.  This was a very nice find Hillbilly.  I thought I knew all the nook and crannies on a carb and reading through this I learned some more.  Thanks again for posting it.

Would this be the same carb that I have on my Subaru?

No, that's a generic junk version and it's for the EX17 so too small anyhow.

I will be sending both windshields to be fixed and my muffler to be converted to your new design. Would you have a used carb I could try in place of mine to see if it would fix my stalling issue? I would return it and buy a new one later if it works out.  Would rather try that than pay to ship my engine back down. (Pricey)

Just send your carb and fuel pump down with everything. I'll put it on mine to test. No problem.
