No, the 2007 and older models are immune to this problem. Mokai changed the hull design for 2008 to save assembly time and cut costs, they incurred problems and a weaker hull instead. You have nothing to worry about.  ;)

Have spent the last couple days working on the two 2010's in for overhaul, welding all the cracks around the intake tunnel and wear ring housing mount. I put my RC hobby gear to good use and used my FPV camera and goggles to see, so I could weld all the inside areas that are not visible. This will only get easier as I do it more, and seeing how this is going to happen to everyone with these models eventually... I know I will see this more and more. Fortunately I can repair with confidence, while adding reinforcements to the support the pump area so this cannot happen again. I will be adding my aluminum support plate to the outside transom area, but that will come later and this video I just wanted to show the process I went through for the welding. You can see the learning curve progress as you make your way through the video. Total time wearing the googles was about 1 hour, so much easier than trying to hold a USB micro cam and watching my cell phone or laptop while trying to do the welding. I've repaired a few boats up until these, and hands down these two were my best yet. Enjoy.  \./8

Great job Tom!
I think you'll be seeing more and more too.
Hope the 2010-2012 Mokia'ers are staying afloat long enough to give you a call.
Glad your on our team.

Thanks, Chuck.  :)

I'm glad I could provide a fix.  ;)

FYI - The 2008-2009 models have the same hull, with the same potential for these problems.  :-[

What is the main cause of the cracks? Is it mainly the way they were hauled?
Was it because they were secured (strapped down) wrong on the back of a pickup truck?

I wish it were, initially that is what I had thought, those things can contribute but are not the primary cause. My post on the previous page explains the actual cause, once it happened to me I had to do some investigating and wrap my mind around what the real deal was.  http://www.improvingyourmokai.com/index.php/topic,671.msg12346.html#msg12346

Tom, what about Eskapes? If I understand your drawing, Eskapes have plastic wall right in the location of red arrow labelled "no support here". Does that mean that they should be much less susceptible to this?

Also, is it reasonable to assume that crack is prompted by particular actions such as jumping logs, hitting boulders, etc? Would using Mokai in shallow water make this a non-issue?

The ES-kape won't have this problem, only the "new hull" 2008-2012's have to worry.

Tom, Do you need an inspection camera to see the cracks? I think it's time to get a fpv headset and camera. Which one would you recommend?

You can get a cheap $20 USB camera for your smart phone. Getting a FPV headset and camera is going to cost a pretty penny.

You can also just stick your phone down there and take a picture with the flash on until you see a good angle. That's how I made the initial discovery.

Thought I would give Tom a break and upload my part of the still Cracked update.
In trying to be Producer, Director, Narrator and Welder, I forgot the order of repair steps. Put down the sandpaper until you raise the torch! Lol

Well, my DIY fix didn't last very long. (15 hrs)   ???  Tom's is still standing the test of time.
Appears this might be an ongoing problem for my 2010 hull. Lots of stress in the area behind the cockpit and front of engine compartment. Will try some steel mesh this time, seems to be working on my wife's boat. (Tom fix) Also, took a look at her Mokai, she now has a 1/2 inch crack on the opposite side. So far so good on Tom's surgery under the pump and plate support.  :)
