Some inside info from a former Kohler engineer, the gearbox is not available with any other ratio than reduction in 2:1 or 6:1. Nor is it available with anything other than a 1" crankshaft. So that takes the Kohler wet clutch out of the picture as an option. Since Mokai has been so adamant about how bad my clutch is, I'm having a hard time believing they are going to use a centrifugal clutch like mine. Would not be surprised at all if they opted for some version of an electric PTO clutch like you'd find on the output shaft of a riding lawnmower to engage the deck. I seriously hope that's not what they did, but can't think of anything else yet that I could picture them doing.

Interesting.  Its too bad they don't have a 1:2 ratio (or even 1:1.5)... since without a pump change, there'll be plenty of unused torque in that bigger engine... wind that pump up to 8k RPMs.  :)  Weird they'd be so against a centrifugal clutch.  They're tried and true and used in so many applications for so long.  Also simple... and your's is extremely well made.  Any word on any members getting on the wait list for one?  Can't wait to see pictures and detailed specs.

That's the info I was trying to find out, whether there was an option for 1:1 or even an overdrive ratio. Nothing. That would have made sense of going to the bigger engine, was trying to find a way where this wasn't going to be a waste of HP. The quality of my clutches is mostly as a result of Jim at Maxtorque, there wouldn't have been any of those beauties spinning around out there without him.

I haven't heard from anyone who's ordered one of the 2.0's. I'm sure someone has, probably getting steered away from this site though. Mokai tells people that Maxtorque clutches are worthless and that I'm some Georgia chicken farmer that he's working with. LOL  :))

Maybe they found some tiny inline planetary gearbox with a clutch in it. haha  I'd still rather have a centrifugal clutch though.  It's too bad they don't acknowledge this mutually beneficial love hate relationship  :))  Having someone like you making so many aftermarket components has sold countless new and used boats for that company.  I've had to call them a couple times and was always very pleased with the customer service... my biggest beef is their "non transferable warranty" which I think is as low as you can go.  You either make a good product and you stand by it, or you don't make a good product and look for every way to es-kape the warranty. (lol)  In a way I'm glad the warranty didn't transfer because it made me say 'screw it' and start drilling and cutting into the boat to modify it... now it runs cooler, better, and I have some awesome painless aftermarket components.

Nope, last I heard it was still in development. Wouldn't expect to hear anything soon. The last time they brought out a new model it was a year and a half late.

You'll never see Mokai do anything I do, if something is done that could remotely resemble my idea it would be done in a way that would be way out in left field and upside down. lol   For example my steering relocation kit, Mokai put a joystick in the same location and ruined the controls with servos. They used my motor mount/ pump bracing method then chopped off the back of the boat so the pump was unprotected. I'm dying to see what "neutral" is on the 2.0 so I can finally know how close I was in my prediction. haha
