My Es-Kape and the owners booklet are snuggled up under the snow in the shed at my cottage, so I can't check for sure, but I believe the number is 600 ML.

If you go by amount, you could end up being overfull when the engine is in the boat. It sits a slight angle, and filling to the full mark when level (by the book amount will put you there) will make it overfull in the boat. Then there is the potential for the piston to be overcome with oil and the resulting power loss and smoking will make you think your engine is blowing up. Go by my method, it works every time. I don't go by amount for a reason.

Exactly. I should have emphasized that. A 1L container of oil should do two changes.

Follow my instructions for this here ->https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIbO9W5iV24

Folks, you'll be laughing, but it took me two years to notice that two fill openings and thread levels therein are at different heights. When following Tom's instructions/pictures one needs to consider that.

Nothing to consider, both fill openings are at the same height and my directions apply to either one the same. If you notice the level at different heights between the two, your motor is not level.  ;)

Sorry, I disagree. Take a look at the two attached pictures. I've picked a book and bunch of cd cases to match height of the left fill plug and then just re-positioned the stack to the right. It clearly does not fit, which means the right plug is lower, at least while sitting on stock rails. It is certainly not a great difference, but it does translate to at least half way between "bottom of threads" and "ring below threads", levels very much contrasted in previous oil threads.

... at least while sitting on stock rails...

I doubt anyone is going to remove rails to do an oil change.

Also, taking a close look at your images I notice that plastic plug one the left extends below 24.0 level although it is difficult to say exactly by how much as it is not well focused. Yet on the right image it is above (plastic is completely shadowed). So there is probably 1-2 mm difference between two sides, same as in my case.

It's just a difference in perspective, they are both in identical locations, I was in a hurry to take those pictures. There is literally no difference between the two. What you are seeing on yours is just from the mounting rails. Just get a piece of 1x4 to put the motor on, that will let it sit on the actual base of the block.
