I'm thinking two ladders with a 2X10X16 across them, set up next to your truck.
Attach a chain hoist with at 10 foot throw to each each end.
Winch the Mokai up to just a little above the truck rack.
Have someone guide one side onto the top as one of the winches is lowered.
Secure that end and then do the same for the other end.
2 winches $120.00, 2 eight foot ladders $160, if you don't have winches and ladders

Hey, aquachigger,
I have the same principal issue of getting my Mokai on top of my Xterra.
My only advantage is that I already have this "EIDE Boat loader" (boatloader.com). I am currently in the process of making a special cradle to fit my Mokai and then it's just a push of a button to load it. Yes, have to remove engine, gas tank, pump etc.
Trying to manhandle this boat is maybe for weightlifters, but not for me!

Your truck already has a perfect rack onto which you can easily mount your loader as it comes from the factory.
You can get it with manual winch or electrical.
When I'm not using my loader, I store it on the ceiling of my garage. I made a simple rope/pulley system to lower it onto my car and then lift it off again after I'm done. Can't be easier.
Regards

I've heard of boatloader. Please post a video loading your Mokai.

Will do when my cradle is ready.
Meanwhile, if you're curious, they have a video on their website.
It's the same principal for the Mokai. boatloader.com (also known as EIDE Boatloader).

Hey Aquachigger,
This looks like a good solution. I am wondering, you have removed the motor for lifting the boat?
Also, could you post a picture that shows your setup from the crane side. Curious about the winch/crane details and how you attached it to the vehicle.
Thanks.

This reminds me of install and removal of the Cobra attack helicopter rotor head and blades in the Field. If we could not get a mobile crane then there was a place on the side of the main transmission to install a Hand crank crane.

I'll do that. I just got back in from my first trip with this setup and will probably make one or two slight mods to the system. It does work great! I have the bed of the truck set up for sleeping and camping so needed to put it on top. I can leave the motor and full tank in the boat (plus me if I dared, I did test it). But it's a rinky-dink setup and you'll laugh. I tend to go on the cheap. :-X
